The LPG and CNG versions of the Renault Logan seem to be just a couple of months away. The LPG version of the Logan was showcased at the Auto Expo 2008 in New Delhi.
If the rumors we hear are true, the LPG and CNG versions would be launched in October 2008. Price of the CNG and LPG versions could be anywhere between Rs 30,000 and Rs 50,000 higher than the petrol version of the Renault Logan.
The LPG version of the Logan would be more accessible to customers across India, but AutoLPG is not as cheap as CNG. CNG, on the other hand, would be more economical, but availability is limited to the big cities. Tough choice, there.
Mahindra-Renault has been working on improving the dealer network and hope that the new versions of the Logan would help them get closer to the segment leader Honda City.
Mahindra Renault has decided to enter the Nepal car market with its economy sedan, the Renault Logan. Mahindra Renault has has unveiled its Logan passenger car in Nepal through Agni Incorporated, the current distributor of Mahindra vehicles in Nepal. Agni already distributes several Mahindra vehicles in Nepal including tractors.
Nepal too, like India, is a price conscious market – and Mahindra Renault believes that there is a good market there waiting to be tapped.
Two renault Logan models will be on sale in Nepal – the1.4 GLE Petrol sedan and the 1.5 DLS Diesel initially. The company is mulling over bringing more Logan variants into the country in the future.
The Logan 1.4 GLE Petrol is sold in India at a price of Rs 4.4 lakh ex-showroom and offers average fuel efficiency figures of around 15 kmpl. The Logan 1.5 DLS Diesel is sold at a price of Rs 6.5 lakh ex-showroom in India, and offers 19 kmpl highway mileage.
The Renault Logan offers a strong value proposition for India, and it is true for Nepal too. It is well built and sturdy, spacious, frugal, and service costs and parts are not highly priced. Those values should make the Logan a hit in Nepal.
There are other reasons why Mahindras would look at the Nepal car customers. For one, there is the long term vision for more exports from India. Then, there is the inflation and interest rate hikes in India, which have hit all car manufacturers in India, including Mahindra Renault, badly. In 2008-2009 fiscal year so far, Renault Logan sales are at the 6000 mark, some 26 per cent less than the sales for the same period last year.
Meanwhile, the Mahindras are also foraying into more unfamiliar terrain. A couple of years after the Tatas went all the way to Botswana with its vehicles, and now Mahindra and Mahindra is also all set to enter the market in Botswana with its hugely successful Scorpio. It has been reported that the company will soon open its branch in Gaborne in Botswana and the Scorpios and also more models from the M&M stables will roll into that country. It is expected that the Scorpio will prove to be extremely popular because of its low prices. In fact the company believes that the relatively cheap station 4 x 4 wagon will compete well with its rivals.
With their new versions, Mahindras are all set to rock the market in the coming couple of months. Lets keep the fingers cross to know what actually comes out.

Southfield, MI (PRWEB) September 20, 2006
Elysium Inc., a leading global provider of multi-CAD enabling software, announced today its new strategic partnership with Mahindra Engineering, part of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, and one of the largest technical firms in India. In a recent partnership agreement, the two firms agreed to share technical expertise, software products, and business opportunities.
Elysium’s precision CAD data translation tools enable an end-user to migrate from one CAD system to another, when needed. These migration events are due to an end-user switching CAD systems or engaging in an acquisition of a company that uses a different CAD system. End-users generally know of Elysium’s capability through its excellent 3D data translation performance that is used worldwide by manufacturers of every size and type. The company also has extensive industry partnerships with other PLM companies, such as Autodesk, CoCreate, Dassault Systèmes, IBM, PTC, SolidWorks, and UGS.
“With our in-depth knowledge of CAD data translation issues, we have typically teamed with industry partners, while maintaining our expertise over the 3D data translation and migration tools,” comments Elysium COO Ken Tashiro. “Now, however, end-users are requesting Elysium to provide complete end-to-end migration responsibility, which would extend to both on-site services, such as project management, translation support, and CAD to PDM check-in or release work to off-site projects, that require subject matter expertise, for example, CAD data re-mastering and CAD quality checking. This partnership agreement introduces Mahindra Engineering as a means to provide an end-to-end services model.”
“We are very optimistic about the new agreement with Mahindra Engineering,” Tashiro says. “This will offer substantial benefits for both companies, allowing expanded services to Elysium customers, as well as provide the Mahindra organization, and its clients, the best in translation technologies.”
“Our partnership with Elysium allows our organization to gain best in class tools in the CAD data translation arena,” comments Mahindra Vice President Viresh Doshi. “Today, Mahindra is the largest UGS user in India and continues to grow. We have teamed with Elysium to provide our customers a solution for migration and collaboration across multi-CAD environments.”
