Rating by Viewer: 4 out of 10

Forget the Taj Mahal, GO SEE AKSHARDHAM! IT IS LITERALLY THE 8th WONDER OF THE WORLD. If in Delhi Namaste, Swaminarayan Akshardham in New Delhi epitomizes 10000 years of Indian culture in all its breathtaking grandeur, beauty, wisdom and bliss. It brilliantly showcases the essence of India’s ancient architecture, traditions and timeless spiritual messages. The Akshardham experience is an enlightening journey through India’s glorious art, values and contributions for the progress, happiness and harmony of mankind. The grand, ancient-styled Swaminarayan Akshardham complex was built in only five years through the blessings of HDH Pramukh Swami Maharaj of the Bochasanwasi Shri Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS) and the colossal devotional efforts of 11000 artisans and BAPS volunteers. The complex was inaugurated on 6 November, 2005. Akshardham means the eternal, divine abode of the supreme God, the abode of eternal values and virtues of Akshar as defined in the Vedas and Upanishads where divine bhakti, purity and peace forever pervades. For the first time ever the world witness the heritage of India in all its facets, insights and beauty at the Swaminarayan Akshardham through its mandir, exhibitions, verdant gardens and other attractions. en.wikipedia.org

  31. portaltoindia Says:

    @vic86m I have been going to India since 1986 and have spent a total of 4 years of my life there. I have never been asked nor have I paid to enter a temple. And as I said I would refuse to pay 1 rupee. Temples are places of worship and to have to pay to enter is ‘beyond my pale’. I have been denied entrance in a rare few such as the ‘Golden Temple’ in Benares which used to be Hindu only although now it is open to all.

  32. vic86m Says:

    @gllladki

    Temples (Or any Archaeological things like forts, lakes etc) maintained and managed by ASI (Archaeological Survey of India) charges nominal fee of INR 5 for Indians and INR 50.
    The fees charged by ASI are for maintenance and research purposes, so that we can preserve such gems, and discover many such archaeological wonders!

  33. portaltoindia Says:

    @simplymonty
    Perhaps as a Hindu you are almost required to donate or be shamed. I have never ever seen an official ‘toll both’, as it were, at a temple. And if I were to see an Entrance Fee at a place of worship I would just refuse to enter! Sure I donate to the Purjari at my pleasure, but never as a demand. Let them curse me it’s his Karma not mine.
    Stuart

  34. lucasm191 Says:

    what an architecture, brilliant.

  35. MsSunilkargwal Says:

    thats why i love my INDIA!

  36. diego6313 Says:

    @vixpatel1991 Swaminarayan is not a religion. It is a sect & religion is Sanatana Dharma (Hinduism).

  37. diego6313 Says:

    11000 craftsmen and volunteers worked relentlessly to build Akshardham but their hands were not chopped off. Now do we see the difference ?

  38. jsmith53020 Says:

    @jrspjn yessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss!!!

  39. RazTheKoyote Says:

    dude india is such an amazing country
    everything about it is mesmerizing in the art work design and construction of everything they did.

  40. deadeyeslave Says:

    amazing! what a masterpiece.

  41. vixpatel1991 Says:

    It’s amazing how the BAPS Swaminarayan Religion creates the temple according to the ancient “Vastu Shastra” a.k.a Indian Science of Architecture and yet manage to keep it modernized in the animatronics etc

  42. MoonScorpion97 Says:

    @anmol1901 be sure only to visit NORTH india and not south….i went to the south for one week and boom food poisoning

  43. SuperAdhayan Says:

    @maniacram ?????????????

  44. maniacram Says:

    Ha you gullibles still believing in the biggest lie that Taj Mahal was a muslim structure. Its real name was Tejo Mahalaya a shiva temple.

  45. Narsimhadev010 Says:

    truly amazing mandir!

  46. iAintNoIdiot Says:

    no humans can ever build such a structure , lord swaminarayan has built it for himself by giving us the energy . JAY SWAMINARAYAN ! :)

  47. sumit6b Says:

    it took 5 years and was designed by 7000 craftsmen ..!!!

  48. komalpatel41185 Says:

    really it`s very nice i think every one should visit this place at ones in his or her life………………….jay swaminarayan

  49. jrspjn Says:

    I have seen this temple and taj mahal both .. I feel this temple is far beautiful than taj mahal.

  50. Apvatar3000 Says:

    After watching this exquisite spiritual creation of this temple,my consciousness asks me
    what if India was totally free from corruption of all forms,and the many seemingly unsolved problems of India,were to be solved in the “spirit of the volunteerism and
    devotion” of “Dharma” ? ..India truely would be the Heavenly place to reside.But
    the realities of modern day India,is so overwhelming,I wonder if its average citizen can
    ever be free from the “hypocrisy from within” in its many forms.
