Logan 1.6 GLS Model Review

I tried the network far and wide to find suitable and meaning reviews on Mahindra Logan. But, unfortunately, I got nothing. I had driven the first in Italy in October and even if I wished I was not sure whether it was a good choice compared to Honda city that I had been eying for a long time before I even heard of Logan. Six months of deep reflection and forcing myself to be practical, I finally gave in and went in for the Mahindra Logan. The reasons were very clear and I list them down below:

(a) The Honda city body seemed to be fragile, in reality all the cars I have seen a tooth. If this was not enough I saw dealer listings specifying zero waiting period for body repairs. Mahindra Logan on the other hand looks and is robust.
(b) The shock, Honda city ’s are much better initially but the time would last at Indian roads is any body ‘ s guess.
(c) of resale value – I am not the guy who could sell the car anyway
(d) miles – I had a gut feeling Mahindra expressed the same or better
(e) the cost of maintenance-The Mahindra Logan spare parts are about 60% cheaper than Maruti SX4, Honda so much more.
(f) While I was still trying to bring my mind, the streets are flooded with Honda City. N. What’s in possession of any more.

Any way I went ahead and bought a Mahindra Logan 1.6 GLS. I don ‘t drive so much diesel has no sense. The buying experience was great. Goel Motors in Mohali, Punjab, has not left any stone unturned to make me feel special and had a ceremony of delivery on the red carpet, opening and all.

After reading reviews of half baked Logan on the Internet I was looking for those very things while driving and I was shocked about some things that people had written.

The first engine. They are not any easier. The 1.6 engine in Logan made sure that I had to continually change gears. E ‘rose up in the fourth. The sound proofing is great. You can almost hear the engine inside and, at times on the crossing lights one wonders if the engine is on or not. A / C is fabulous that is obvious for large cars.

The suspension is great and I went over a great many holes that seem to reduce the distortion of the road. I touched 150 kmph on the road and there was no obvious strain on the engine. The car is managed well and would take a little ‘more courage had my permit me to do so.

Now comes the great part, the mileage. From Chandigarh in Delhi I saw a whopping 18.5 km / l without A / C and the mind is this was a new car that was opened up to extra fuel. Thus one can assume that would at least 19-20 once the engine has been retuned after the first service. Overall I had about 16.5 during a 2000 km run with the A / C for about 70% of the total period. This is something that all other petrol cars will struggle to match.

As advertised, the Logan is the largest space inside as well as in the boot and well equipped bodied adults can easily fit in. The boot is a little ‘too big for any family who travel by car. Assistance, windows, power locks, fog, music system, defoggers, opener remote boot, driver seat height adjustment, lumbar support etc. are characteristics that do not get with any other car at this price.

Speaking of price. The car is 5.25 lakhs (now close to 6 lakhs), road in Chandigarh, compared to over 7 lakhs for Honda City. The Logan 1.6 GLS is probably the only car laden you can buy for a cheap price and that does not disappoint at all.

Here are some pictures of the car. All in all a great buy and I am proud of.

The Quality of showrooms/service centers and the services rendered are not so good. Imagine no A.C. in their Service center and showroom at G3 motors Malad and the service centre office is in a basement. They even refused to me show their workshop. Can you imagine that the Dealer (Sahil Motors- Andheri West -also known as GMS) from whom I bought my Car in Mumbai closed own in 6 months time without any info. and closed all its contact means. They carried out a shoddy job of anti rust treatment and after their closure Mahindra and other dealers expressed their helplessness in the matter. This dealer took the Cheque for the extended warranty and never remitted the amount to Mahindra and no certificate for the same was issued to me for months. Just to let you know that G3 Motors replaced my Spark Plugs after 10000kms in 1 year where as the Service Book says that they should be replaced after 20000 kms and the Board displayed in G3 motors says that it should be done after 40000 kms. They never gave me my old spark plugs. It just means that the Spark plugs were never replaced but I was merely billed for them by G3, Malad east, Mumbai. No Proper Bill was issued for the repairs work carried out by them. Every time for free service also they charge 100/- to 200/- towards consumables, which in my opinion is not correct. The Staff at G3 motors is highly inexperienced & incompetent.
